At Sunrise Service Dogs, we believe a service dog is more than a highly trained dog—it is a partner who can help open a world of greater independence, confidence, and possibility.

Our programs are designed to meet people at different points in their service dog journey. Whether you are looking to train your own dog, are interested in being matched with a professionally trained service dog, or want to explore other ways to become involved, we offer pathways designed around individualized support, thoughtful training, and meaningful partnerships.

Our Training Approach

Every dog and every person is different. Our programs are built around positive, humane, relationship-based training and are informed by the standards and best practices of Assistance Dogs International (ADI).

We focus on the whole partnership—from appropriate dog and client selection and foundational skills to public access, individualized task training, handler education, and continued support.

Sunrise Service Dogs is currently an ADI Candidate for Membership, reflecting our commitment to building a program grounded in high standards, ethical practices, and continual improvement.

Owner Dog-to-Partner
Have a dog that may have the potential to become a service dog? Our Owner Dog-to-Partner pathway provides structured training and support to help eligible dogs and their handlers develop the skills needed for a successful service dog partnership.

Puppy-to-Partner
For those beginning with a puppy, our Puppy-to-Partner pathway provides a progressive training journey designed to develop the skills, confidence, and behaviors needed for future service dog work.

Public Access Ready Service Dogs
For a limited number of individuals, we offer the opportunity to be matched with a professionally trained service dog. Our training team handles the majority of the dog's foundational training before working with the individual to develop the skills needed for their specific needs and goals.

Volunteer & Community Opportunities
Service dog partnerships are made possible by an entire community. From puppy raising and dog training support to events, fundraising, administrative assistance, and other volunteer opportunities, there are many ways to become part of the Sunrise Service Dogs mission.
