Sunrise Service Dogs believes in the power of the human-canine bond to enrich the lives of both people and dogs. While we are primarily focused on providing service dogs for people with disabilities, we recognize that there are so many different ways to work in our community with dogs.

Our Therapy Dog applications are currently suspended as we do not presently have any dog candidates available.

Therapy dogs are pets that assist in improving the well-being of people in specific settings. You can find them in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, fire stations, police departments, correctional facilities, and other therapeutic settings. Therapy dogs are considered pets and have no right to public access unless they work in specifically approved settings.

We want to introduce you to two Sunrise therapy dogs working daily in our community. We can’t thank them enough for the healing, hope, joy, and love they bring to thousands of people each year.

Darla

In 2022, Darla and Greg shared her special brand of love to close to 5,000 people in places like University Hospital, the Denver Center for International Studies, CU Denver, Parker Core Knowledge School, the University of Denver School of Law, Prestige Care Center, Colorado Palliative & Hospice Care, Metro State University, and the Eloise May Library.

Hulk

An official K9 Therapy Dog for the City of Fountain Police Department, Hulk works with his handler, Officer Marshall. Each year hulk visits thousands of people in the Colorado Springs area. Hulk has helped those within the community in times of crisis, as well as helping police officers cope during traumatic events. Hulk provides a positive social opportunity for law enforcement and aids in strengthening relationships within the community. One of his biggest jobs - softening the badge. Hulk is a favorite wherever he goes.

Special thanks to Bugaboo Old English Sheepdogs for producing these amazing dogs!
